It is critical to the future of our community that our leaders demonstrate a strong work ethic, innovative ideas, and solid Nebraska values. Amanda McGill stands up for our community:

Neighborhood Revitalization - A vibrant local business scene anchored in our neighborhoods is important. Amanda continues to work with local business leaders to keep businesses conveniently close to home, and she fought to repeal the sales tax on construction labor to make it easier to re-develop our neighborhoods.

Community Safety - Amanda will continue to fight for laws that protect our children and families. She'll work for stronger minimum sentencing standards for sex offenders and meth dealers, and fight for more public safety funding.

Strong Schools - Education is an investment in our children. Amanda's priority bill during the 2007 legislative session was LB 73, which increased the funding for school breakfast programs. Amanda continues working to make sure our schools have the resources they need, because strong schools make for a strong community.

Strengthening the Middle Class - Hard working middle class families are the back bone of Northeast Lincoln. Amanda voted for LB 367, delivering about $150 in property tax relief to the average family in Lincoln. She originally helped sponsor a bill that would have cut property taxes by $500 for every homeowner. Amanda also worked with a bipartisan coalition to pass a bill eliminating the marriage penalty in the Nebraska income tax code. Amanda continues to work to reduce the tax burden placed on working families and fight for property tax relief.
